To Who It May Concern

Dear Boy Relationships,

I can't handle you right at all.    I thought if I was that girl who was really shy, but kind when spoken too I would attract the right kind of people.  All I got was people who would get in my face and not take no for an answer. Then I figured I wasn't in the right environment.  So from a small pond to a somewhat larger one, I took the same approach.  I got the same result.  But this time it came with drama I didn't want nor desire.  So for a while I gave up.  I decided I should develop myself.  Become someone not as socially awkward around the opposite sex.  That ended my first year.
It worked. I changed.  I became way more confident and started being more "me". I was learning to be better at talking to boys. I had more likable and less creepy guy friends.  And whenever those new relationships got to that fork where you go down the path of liking them more than a friend or staying in the lane you are, you choose.  And yes, there were times where I chose to take the more than friends path.  And that just didn't work out.  Why? I held back.  I kept seeing myself being really boring in a relationship.  I'd keep asking: do you think you can handle the whole package you get from being with another?  I wasn't sure.  So my efforts were half-hearted.  And they still are.
What's worse when a guy likes me, I freak.  I don't know why.  It's some innate thing going inside me.  It shakes me to the core.  I dodge and hide from the problem.  I don't know if it's fear or what.  But it's a horrible and hurtful habit.

I can't say I'm sorry because sorry means I won't do it again, and I can't guarantee that it won't.

How do you want me? You keep sending me mixed signals? What am I suppose to do?  Throw in the towel or fight harder?  You make 85% of life complicated.  The least you could do is lighten up.

Er, at least, give me a definite answer...

Very concerned,

~Ally-Cat

Kim

Kim= fun, energetic, and a beautiful soul.

I've been meaning to do this kind of post for a long time.  (Ever since I wrote about Lauren way back when.)

I wish I had knew.  I wish I had known how damaging that relationship was.  Everyone else knew.  How could I miss it? I mean we've been friends since Kindergarden! I should have seen the signs... I should have thought deeper about who much you changed when you were with him.  I was too wrapped up in other things, I didn't take the time to help you.  I so sorry.

Then I was scared.  I was scared of Vicky*. Vicky had done things.  Some really bad stuff.  It sickened me to the core.  I knew that our relationship was over.  But I was still worried for you.  She still was good friends with Vicky.  I knew the longer you and  Vicky stayed friends, the better the possibility that Vicky would get you into stuff that you'd regret later.  I tried all my might to get them apart.  But you were very subborn.  And I undertstood.  We both knew Vicky since Kindergarden too.  But things were different now.  She wasn't the same person.  After many months of convincing, you understood this too.   I think this made you stronger.

Today, Kim and I are the best of friends.  Probably better than we've ever been.  I'm soo proud of her.  She knows what she wants; she sticks to her morals; and she so genuine.

So Kim, this is me, saying how much I appreciate you.  I've been so down and hazy lately, but talking to you made it so much better.  I know times are hard, but I will always be here! Love you!

I think that second part is right. (Idk.  My memory sucks.)

Reply: About Foundation...

Hey there Jessica! I hope you don't mind this, but my reply would have been waaaay to long to answer in a comment box. (Please forgive me!) Here's my reply:

"hey, I have a question. (:

I have pretty good skin, so I don't really use foundation because I don't like the feel of it and I've heard that it sort of clogs up your pores. However, I think makeup (eye shadow, etc.) looks weird if someone isn't wearing foundation.
Is it true that foundation isn't good for your skin? And since I don't like foundation, do you think it's weird if I wear eyeshadow & eyeliner etc. without foundation? (Just trying to get opinions.)
Thanks!" ~Jessica

So when you say "pretty good skin" I'm going to assume you have combination skin--meaning dry in the winter and a bit oily in the summer?  Hmm, have you ever heard of tinted moisturizers? They're a moisturizer only they have pigment to it so not only is it hydrating your skin, but it's also giving you coverage.  (I've never tried them myself, so I don't know how well that'd turn out.  You may want to look into that.)

Basically, anything you put on your skin-whether it's concealer, foundation, whatever--it's going to either block or clog your pores.  There's really no way of getting around it.  So the answer to the foundation is yes it will clog your pores. (But don't be scared to wear any make-up.  If you wash your face and take care of it the right way, there really isn't anything to be worried about.)

Hmm, and the eye makeup.   I know a couple of girls who do the same thing as you.  I too, think it looks a little off. Anyways as for my opinion,  If it were me I would put a little bit of concealer or powder on, just to diminish the color of blemishes and such.  But that's just me.  I'd say do whatever you feel comfortable with.  I definitely wouldn't pack on the makeup if it feels uncomfortable to wear.  Plus, if your saying you have pretty good skin, I'd just keep doing what your doing.

I hope that helped.

Good luck, Jessica! Thanks for stepping up and asking questions.  I enjoyed answering them. Feel free to ask more anytime. :D

~Ally-Cat

P.S
If you're looking for something with light coverage but is light on your skin try Maybelline's Dream Mousse line.  I did some research and from what I hear it's very airy and does it's job well.  I don't know the retail; it varies in different places. Again, good luck!

The Basics: Prepping The Face + Make Up Primer

*I am not paid to mention any products in this post.  These are all my thoughts and opinions*
Before you put any type of make up on, you need to clean your face right.

The essentials:
  1. Cleanser-washes away dirt and bacteria
  2. Toner -drys the excess oil and clears out pores (what the cleanser didn't pick up); reduces redness
  3. moisturizer- toners can dry out the skin, this helps from flaking and actually keeps your face from getting oily.
IMPORTANT: Always always always wash your make up off before going to bed.  At night, you pores tend to produce more oil than during the day.  With makeup in your pores and icky oil you are for sure going to get some major breakouts!

Tips:
  • Wash your face ever day, twice a day.
    • If you have acne prone skin try this technique: instead of washing your face twice a day, do it 3 times a day. You may think that's a bit obsessive, but it really does reduce the oil build up.  I recommend washing your face in the shower.  The hot water opens your pores, making it easier to get all the icky stuff out of your skin.  WARNING: this practice will dry your skin out.  Make sure you moisturize!
  • Exfoliate once a week.  (if you have some pimples, don't exfoliate that week.)
  • Do NOT pop your pimples.  I know it's really hard not to, but trust me you'll have less scarring! Let the pimple run its course.
  • Severe acne? Time to see a dermatologist.  You'll probably have to go on prescription.
  • Avoid touching your face. All the bacteria on your hands gets applied to your face when you touch it. xP
  • Wash your make up brushes! Either everyday or every other day! These brushes also hold a lot of bacteria if left untreated.
    • Don't know how to correctly clean your brushes? Click here!
  • Eat healthy.  Junk food has a lot of grease.  This grease makes your body produce more oils, these oils are usually excreted...through your face.  Yuck!
  • See a pimple starting? Put some acne cream on it after washing your face.  It should make it go away in the next 24 hours.
  • Alternate cleansers.  Sometimes, your skin can get use to a product and so it won't react to it anymore.  Find one of your old cleansers and use that for a night or two, then go back to your usually cleanser.  Your skin will thank you.
  • Don't use the same wash clothes.  Everyday you need to switch to a new one.  Using the same wash cloth means your reapplying the dirt and grim you removed from your face earlier. Again, you'd be allowing yourself to get more breakouts...
-----------------
Primer

Ahh, primer. The foundation for the foundation. But some of you might be asking, "What is primer?"
Primer is usually a serum or gel that you put on your face before you apply concealer or foundation. It's suppose to even out your skin by filling in enlarged pores and smooth out fine lines.
Now the next question, "Do I need it?"
Depends on your skin type. Anyone with combination or just oily skin, don't use primers. Why? Take a look at this diagram.
Primer can essentially clog your oily pores and cause you to get breakouts! Yikes! The reason that dry skinned people can use primer is that they don't tend to have oil backup in their pores, hence the dry skin.
People who are acne prone, also, should not use primers. (Ha, well isn't that obvious?!)
Need an alternative?
Always use moisturizer. Yes, that is what I call primers. It doesn't matter if you have oily skin or not--I know that lotions can make you more oily or breakout more but hear me out. For acne prone skin try using Olay's Combination/Oily lotion. It's light and won't clog pores. Though there is still the risk of getting a breakout, you may want to look into finding a moisturizer that is for acne prone skin.
For people with dry skin, I'd just look for a normal face moisturizer.

Have any more questions? You can contact me via formspring, email, or right here in the comments below!

GOOD LUCK!

I'll also do hair and some fashion stuff to.  (Well, in the realm of my fashion.  I don't do runway stuff.  Too expensive.)

So what do you think?

A Pep Talk For Myself

I've been feeling down lately which has been destroying my NYR.  So I decided, "Heck, you need a pep talk". I was going to open a document and write myself a letter, but then thought "why not write it on ye ol' blog?" And here I am. Enjoy! ;)

Dear Ally-Cat,
I know life has really gotten you down lately.  All you do is worry.  You worry about whether people are fake.  Do they even care? You worry about your attitude toward your parents.  You love them, but you can't help, but be annoyed with everything they do. And then there's that whole boy situation...No matter what you can't get a break it seems.
I know you've recently started praying nightly to God.  But you think, "Is this really helping?" It seems he'll fix one thing and then hashes out another challenge.  You know that he's testing you,  but there are so many options to choose; how are you suppose to know which one is the right one?  You're scared.  Overwhelmed.  Tired.  I understand because...well, I'm you.
Ally-Cat, God loves you.  That is the first thing you should always remember.  He'll never leave you to walk a path on your own.  It's you who needs to step up.  Be the man.  Err, woman as the case maybe.  Show Life that they are the boss of you.  Be your own.  I think you need a break. You need to just stay home and be with you.  You need to calm down.  You feel like all you do is complain. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.  Stop being whiny and move on.  If being single is what you need THEN BE SINGLE! If being more outgoing is what you need, then talk to people! Stop cowering and hiding! Be a better person.
You're parents do love you.  Gosh, why can't you see that.  Why can't you be nice?  Why can't you see what all they've done for you.?  You're insecure.  Be confident.  Love you. Look here's some great things about you:
-artistic
-sympathetic
-think before you act
-caring
-don't drink or do drugs
You care. You always will.  You can't change that.  You area a "mom" no matter how much you hate being called one.  You figure if someone doesn't look after the careless, then you should.  If you weren't there in some of those past situations, things might have gone totally wrong.  It's a lot of work, but isn't it worth it?
As for a friend, maybe you should let her have him.  I mean.  In you're heart you just know it would be better that way, right?  Then where does that leave you?  Alone.  Can you handle being alone? Well, there's you guy friend.  Just thinking about dating him, sends shivers down your spine.  It's wrong.  To you anyway.  Be yourself.  Let it play out.   Stay single as long as possible.  Being friends with everyone is the right thing after all.. I mean. What do you have to lose?

Remember, don't depend on someone else for your happiness.

                                          Love,
                                               A

Today Is Number 1

1-11-11

I'm taking time off for a minute to post.

Firstly, holla at Mizz. Ali for getting back to the blogging community! :D

I just want to take this time on this rare kind of day to say what's number one in my life.
  1. Family + Sunny (my doggy)
  2. Friends
  3. My followers
  4. School
  5. Youtube
I didn't put DA up, I need more time to understand it more.  I'm not even sure if I actually like it too much.  It's a good way of appreciating art though. :)

And yeah, you bet I put Youtube on there!

PS
Oh and poor Hannah had to go to the hospital. :( Please keep her in your prayers.

Count Me Absent

Hey everyone.  I realized last night I totally forgot to put up the Worst of 2010 up.  I don't have it done yet.  And sadly, I won't be around for a while.  I have exams and such coming up and I need to focus on those.

Also, I apologize for not commenting on anyone's blog in a while.  Everything seems to be on hyper drive right now. I don't get time to do anything.

Don't forget I love ya.
