The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: Book Review

(3/5)

You know, this was a fascinating book.  Though, I didn't like it too too much.  I'm always a bit sad when a tragic book comes to a close. I liked that at the end I got to hear --or more over, read-- what Bree was thinking during her last moments as a vampire.  I'd like to go back now and read that part of Eclipse; just to see Edwards reactions to what Bree had told him if it was even mentioned at all.
You guys know I'm a Stephenie Meyer fan.  I love how she can smoothly describe things and it makes sense.  You can picture what she's trying to say--it's like art.  And well, you know me and art.  In this book it wasn't fantastic.  I'm guessing because of it's length and it's narrator, you'd have to "dumb it down". (Like Bella was wise for her age so simply the narration in her saga was more sophisticated and thoughtful as Bree isn't as smart and so her perceptive wasn't as 'sophisticated and thoughtful'...)
There was some points that I really wanted to get clear up.  Especially Diego.  I won't give it away, but if you read the book you'll know what I'm talking about.  Also, I hope she tells us what happens to Fred.  I liked that dude.  He was interesting and complicated character.
Bree Tanner was a great character.  She wasn't dumb like the others and in a way, is like Bella.  (For those who've read BD I think you get the hint. ) So way to go with that.  She wasn't a bore! Yay!
Another problem I had was that I couldn't comprehend the way these newborns lived.  I kept thinking about how the Cullens lived and how better they were and that well, newborns suck.  In my head I repetitively compared the Cullens to Riley's "kids" and kept thinking how wrong it was.  I really wanted to go back to the Cullens and not this deadbeat "family" who were immature and out of control.  It was almost to the point of annoyance. *sigh*

So in a nutshell I say all those who are curious about normal newborns and want to know more about the crazy army Victoria created go ahead and read it--all I can say is that you might have the same problem as I did with the comprehension. Also if you haven't read Eclipse yet and are thinking about reading TSSLOBT then go ahead.  It'll actually make Eclipse a bit better to read, because Eclipse is a somewhat boring so I think this novella will give it a kick if you read it first.  ;)
Enjoy!

Twilight Saga: Eclipse Movie Review

(3 / 5)

Let me first say that I didn't particularly like Eclipse the book, so Eclipse the movie didn't much appeal to me.  The only interesting part I liked was the back stories--but even those were shortened and not what I pictured.

Visual effects were pretty good.  I thought the wolves were adorable.  My friend kept laughing at me when I'd aw at them.  Anyways, it didn't look cheesy like it did in Twilight, but it wasn't as nice as New Moon.

Waaaay tooo long.  Not counting the ads and the 2 preview trailer, it was 2 hrs and 15 mins long.  Started out was okay, but your bum starts to hurt like crazy after an hour and by the time you get to the climax you just want to get the hell outta there.

Ah, the characters. Firstly, wtf with Jasper's accent?!  In all the other movies he never had one.  In this movie he had this off and on southern accent.  I mean, I understand why and where it comes from, but if they wanted to have an accent for Jasper than they should have started that in the first movie!  And like I said, it wasn't a continued thing; it was off and on, especially during the training scenes. I call it Spontaneous Southern Accent (SSA).  Nice, right?
Also, Alice and Jasper.  I didn't really like that they're relationship is so ... showy. In the books, it was almost a strange mystery as to why they were attracted to each other.  So that was a bit disappointing.
Lastly, I hate how they've made Rosalie so very shallow.  The way they told her story.. I won't give it away, but it didn't seem to help her character.  You see, in the book, I came to like Rosalie a little more after hearing her story and how she pleaded with Bella to not become a vampire.  I believed she was sincere and concerned for her.  (However, after BD I went back to disliking her again.) It just wasn't rounding her character to me. I've come to think they're doing it all for BD.  Which, I guess, makes sense.

The only thing I can say is that this movie was okay. There were parts that I liked and parts that I didn't at all.  I'll be interested to see what they'll do for BD.  ( I also wonder how they'll rate it...) The one thing I wish they would have done for the movie was the quote about the eclipse.  (You know, when Jacob compared him and Edward to the sun and the moon?) For readers of the series, I guess it would bother them, but for those who haven't read the books I think it would have been nice to have that quote so that they'd understand why the movie/book is called Eclipse.

Well, I hope you enjoyed.  Next post will hopefully be my hair tips.

Adios mi amigas!

Eco Post-its

I was at Target the other day and saw these post-its in a dollar bin.  It said things like "Conserve!; Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!".  You get the jift. Anyways, I didn't buy it in the long run.  The post-it paper wasn't made of recycled paper.  Talk about hypocrites.
_______________

Way back in spring, I drew a bunny for a little girl who I had been my "buddy" last year.  I came back to see her and she ran up to me and gave me a Easter drawing.  Touched, I decided to draw her the most symbolized part of spring and Easter: a bunny. I also decided to make copies for her teacher so that they'd could color them if they wanted.  Though, the little girl got the original. :) Later on, my mom requested that I do one for her class.  I drew her a baby chick hatching from an Easter egg.

I own this picture. Do not use without my permission.

I don't have the picture of the chicken.

The reason I bring this up--and the picture--is that I finally figured out how to get pictures from my phone to my computer. The bunny was one of the ones I retrieved.  I'm super happy about it.

Saw Eclipse finally.  Review and promised posts will come soon.

Life's For Sharing

When I see videos like this, it makes life feel like it's worth living for.

T-Mobile Dance

Here is a group on Youtube called Improv Everywhere.  What they do is go around NYC (and Canada, at times) and pull pranks on the public.  These pranks are harmless and usually don't cause too much disturbance -- I have seen them arrested at times.  Like the T-Mobile Dance video, the things they do warms my heart and other times, it makes me laugh.  So without further adio here is their channel.  (If you are a Youtube member then SUBSCRIBE! They're amazing!)

My Favs!

Where's Rob?! - Takes place a basketball game. I wish I was there.  I'd be shouting at Rob too.

Best Game Ever! - This had to be the most expensive and kindest thing I've seen them do.  *Lauren--don't you wish they did this at your games? lol*

Halloween Prank in NYC - May not be their best but it make me laugh when they started hounded the other car for stealing their candy.

Home Depot Sloooow-Mooo - I can see all my buds doing this in like a Walmart! WE SHOULD TOTALLY ORGANIZE THIS!  Oh, best part-- the employees' reactions!  Get the low down on the agents involved in the stunt!

Department Store Stunt - Next time your in NYC, look up more. ;)
